Periodontal tedavide mikrobeslenme: Antioksidanlar

Öz

Periodontitisle ilişkili birçok sistemik hastalıkta (fazla kiloluluk ve obezite, hipertansiyon,

dislipidemi, tip 2 diyabet, kardiyovasküler hastalıklar, osteoporoz) beslenme ile ilişkili faktörler

rol oynamaktadır. Ayrıca periodontitis düşük serum/plazma mikrobesin seviyeleri ile ilişkilidir.

Son yıllarda rafine karbonhidrat ve doymuş yağlardan zengin diyetin proenflamatuvar, doymamış

yağlar, antioksidan mikrobesinlerin (meyve, sebze, orman meyveleri) antienflamatuar etkili

olduğu ile ilgili güçlü kanıtlar bulunmaktadır.

Mikrobesinler ve periodontal hastalıklar arasındaki ilişkiyi araştıran çok sayıda invitro ve

deneysel çalışma olmasına rağmen insanlarda girişimsel çalışmalar azdır. Periodontal hastalık ile

ilişkileri açısından C vitamin, E vitamin (alfa tokoferol), karotenoidler, polifenoller, flavonoidler

ve diğer antioksidan içerikli fitobileşikler çalışılmıştır. Kesitsel çalışmalardan elde edilen bir

dizi kanıt bitkisel kaynaklı antioksidan besinlerin alımının periodontal tedavi sonuçlarını

geliştirebileceğini gösterir.

Bu derlemede günlük vitamin ve antioksidan ajanların alım tavsiyeleri ile periodontal

hastalıkların tedavisinde mikrobesinlerin muhtemel rolü literatür bilgileri ışığında tartışılacaktır.

Micronutrition in periodontal treatment: Antioxidants

Öz

Nutritional factors are implicated in several systemic diseases and conditions, including

overweight and obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease,

osteoporosis that are associated with periodontitis. Also, periodontitis is associated with low

serum/plasma micronutrient levels. In recent years, strong evidence has emerged that diets

rich in refined carbohydrates and saturated fats are pro-inflammatory, whereas those rich in

polyunsaturated fats (fish oils), antioxidant micronutrients (fruits, berries and vegetables) are

anti-inflammatory.

Although numerous studies evaluated the relationship between micronutrients and periodontal

disease, intervention studies in humans are scarce. In relation to periodontal disease, number

of studies have been conducted and include vitamin C, vitamin E (tocopherol), carotenoids,

polyphenols, flavonoids and other pyhtonutrients. There is a body of evidence from crosssectional

studies that support the potential to improve periodontal outcomes by using dietary

antioxidants.

This lecture will discuss the possible role of some micronutrients in the etiology and therapy of

periodontal diseases and makes recommendations for daily nutritional intake for vitamins and

antioxidants.

Cumhuriyet Dental Journal (Cumhuriyet Dent J, CDJ) is the official publication of Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Dentistry. CDJ is an international journal dedicated to the latest advancement of dentistry. The aim of this journal is to provide a platform for scientists and academicians all over the world to promote, share, and discuss various new issues and developments in different areas of dentistry. First issue of the Journal of Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Dentistry was published in 1998. In 2010, journal's name was changed as Cumhuriyet Dental Journal. Journal’s publication language is English.


CDJ accepts articles in English. Submitting a paper to CDJ is free of charges. In addition, CDJ has not have article processing charges.
