Abstract

Success of the endodontic treatment depends on the microbial elimination in the root canal and periradicular region. Mechanic instrumentation alone cannot achieve a sterile condition. For this reason, some researchers have tried to solve this problem with local administration of antibiotic mixtures. Triple antibiotic paste containing metronidazole, ciprofloxacin, and minocycline has been reported to be a successful protocol in controlling the root canal pathogens. The developed treatment method have been named lesion sterilization and tissue reapir. The purpose of this review is to make contribution to beter understanding of biocompatibility, efficiency, and the restricted properties of the triple antibiotic paste in endodontic therapy and pulp revascularization
