Professor Dr. Wei Cheong Ngeow is among the few Sabah born lecturers working at the University of Malaya. He is currently a lecturer at the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Clinical Sciences, Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Malaya. He was a visiting professor at the University of California, San Francisco in 2015/2016, and is an associate alumnus of Harvard University. He graduated from the University of Malaya in 1992 and was a private practitioner for 9 months before he was offered the post of tutorship at his alma matter. Three years later, he became a Senior House Officer at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead, England, where he obtained his Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He subsequently returned to Malaysia and was a pioneer lecturer at the then newly established Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He later became a lecturer at the University of Malaya since 2000. He has published 11 book chapters, 28 articles and 214 scientific papers. He was listed in World’s Top 2% Scientists 2022 and 2024, report by Stanford University. He has been the invited speaker in 182 events/programs and have organized and given lectures in 48 implant courses.

Received his DDS from Gazi University, Turkey in 1998 and accomplished his PhD in periodontology in Cumhuriyet University, Turkey in 2004. Started his post-doctoral training in University of Helsinki, Finland and National Public Health Institute, Helsinki, Finland in 2005. In 2009, appointed as university teacher at the Institute of Dentistry, University of Turku, Finland. Received his associate professorship at the same university in 2010  promoted to professor in 2023. Serving as the past-president of Scandinavian Society of Periodontology (http://www.scsp.info) and the secretary general of the Scandinavian Division (NOF) of the International Association for Dental Research (http://www.iadr-nof.com/).

Dr. Fusun Ozer is a Professor of Restorative Dentistry at Penn Dental Medicine. Prior to joining Penn Dental Medicine in 2008, Dr. Ozer was at Selcuk University Faculty of Dentistry in Turkey, where she served as Chair of Restorative Dentistry for 10 years. She completed her residency and PhD degree in Operative Dentistry at the Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry in 1991. Dr. Ozer has a broad research background in adhesive dentistry, with specific training and expertise in research areas of material adhesion and developing more biologically stable adhesive/dentin interface. Her recent research interests focus on the effect of zeolite incorporation on the long-term antibacterial and anticariogenic properties of silver reinforced glass ionomer cements. One of her research projects also involves ZIF-8 as a pH-responsive nanoplatform for 5-fluorouracil delivery in the chemotherapy of oral squamous cell carcinoma. Dr. Ozer also conducts various company related clinical research studies. She works on several collaborative research projects with national and international researchers from different institutions and published a large number of peer-reviewed papers in the area of dental materials and particularly in Adhesive Dentistry.
