Diş hekimliğinde enfektif endokardit riski ve profilaksi gerekliliği
Abstract
Enfektif endokardit (EE) yaygın olmayan ama hayatı tehdit edici bir enfeksiyondur. Amerikan Kalp Derneği (AHA), yıllardır belirli kalp patolojilerinde, dental tedavi öncesinde antibiyotik kullanımını tavsiye etmektedir. Bu tavsiyeler en son 2007 yılında olmak üzere değişik yıllarda güncellenmiştir. Bu makalenin amacı EE ile ilgili diş hekimlerinin genel bilgilerini tazelemek ve AHA’nın profilaksi rehberi hakkında bilgi vermektir.

ABSTRACT
Infective endocarditis is an uncommon but life-threatening infection. For decades, the American Heart Association (AHA) recomended that patients with certain hearth conditions take antibiotics shortly before dental treatment. These suggestions have been updated in different years, the latest date being 2007. The aim of the study is to refresh to dentist’s knowledge of infective endocarditis and to give information about the practices of AHA.
