Structural and Mechanical Characterization of Titanium-Reinforced PlateletRich Fibrin (T- PRF) in Healthy and Periodontitis affected Patients

Abstract

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the mechanical and structural characteristics of titanium-reinforced platelet-rich fibrin (T-PRF) in individuals with and without periodontitis. Methods: Twenty-one healthy individuals and twenty-one patients with periodontitis had their T-PRF samples taken. Haematological study of the entire blood picture, mechanical qualities (tensile strength), and structural characteristics (predominant cell types and fibrin network) were assessed. Results: T-PRF's mechanical and structural properties differed between patients with and without periodontitis. Individuals with periodontitis had lower fibrin networks and T-PRF tensile strengths than those who were healthy. Conclusions: This study shows whether periodontitis influences the mechanical and structural properties of T-PRF, which could affect its efficacy in clinical applications. Understanding these differences is critical for maximising T-PRF's regenerative capabilities in periodontal treatment.
