DENTAL IMPLANT OPERATIONS PERFORMED AT GAZI UNIVERSITY FACULTY OF DENTISTRY DEPARTMENT OF ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY FOR THE LAST SIX YEARS; PREVALANCE AND DEMOGRAPHIC DISTRIBUTION

Abstract

The main purpose of dental implant treatments is to provide functional integrity, which is important for the oral health of patients who have lost their teeth, as well as to eliminate aesthetic and psychological problems. Thus, demographic information to be provided together with the retrospective studies performed in areas with high patient density forms a basis for other parameters to be used in the evaluation of the success criteria of dental implants. For this purpose, in our study, total of 1892 cases among 7345 cases who received implant treatment at Gazi University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery between January 2017 and June 2022 was examined retrospectively according to years, gender, age, dental regions and tooth numbers. Among 1892 patients who underwent implant application, it was determined that female patients received more implant treatment than male patients by 51.7%. In addition, it was determined that the lower jaw and maxilla posterior regions were the most implanted regions. It was also observed that the most implanted age range was between the ages of 50 and 59 years (the 5th decade) by 31.1%. Looking at the monthly average, the most dental implant treatment was done in 2019 before the pandemic started.
