Effect Of Material Thickness On The Color Change Of Resin Matrix Ceramic Blocks

Öz

Background: An aesthetically successful restoration is expected to be similar to the natural tooth morphology, as well as the color characteristics similar to natural tooth tissue. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of material thickness on color parameters and color change of resin ceramic materials with different structures.

Methods: In this study, a total of 90 pieces of A2 circular resin matrix ceramic with three different thicknesses and 8 mm ± 0.2 mm diameter were used. The samples were divided into 9 subgroups according to their structure and thickness. The color parameters (L *, a * and b *) of the samples were determined using the spectrophotometer and the device was set to restoration mode and the color changes of the samples according to A2 color were determined. The hue and chroma values of the samples were also calculated using the obtained a * and b * values. The data were evaluated with two-way ANOVA and Tukey multiple comparison tests at a significance level of p (0.05.

Results: According to the results of statistical analysis, it was observed that the material factor was not effective for L * value,  thickness factor and thickness Xmaterial factor interactions were found to be significant (p˂0,05).  Material factor, thickness factor, and thickness, x material factor interactions for a *, b *, hue, chroma and ΔE values were found to be significant (p˂0,05). It was determined that the mean ΔE value obtained from samples with Group E 1.5 mm thickness was below the clinically acceptable thresholds within the groups.







Conclusion: The material type and thickness have a significant effect on the color characteristics of resin matrix ceramics. Critical thickness value for color parameter changes of groups is 1mm.

Materyal Kalınlığının Rezin Matriks Seramik Blokların Renk Değişimi Üzerine Etkisi

Öz

Amaç:
Estetik olarak başarılı bir restorasyonun doğal diş morfolojisine benzer olmasının
yanında, doğal diş dokusuna benzer renk karakterine sahip olması beklenir. Bu
çalışmanın amacı farklı yapılara sahip rezin matriks seramik materyallerinin
renk parametreleri ve renk değişimi üzerinde materyal kalınlığının etkisini
değerlendirmektir.

Gereç ve Yöntemler:
Bu çalışmada 3 farklı yapıya sahip üç farklı kalınlıkta ve 8 mm ± 0,2 mm
çapında toplam 90 adet A2 renginde dairesel rezin matriks seramik örnekler
kullanıldı. Örnekler farklı yapı ve kalınlıklarına göre her grupta 10 ar adet
örnek olacak şekilde 9 alt gruba ayrıldı. Örneklerin renk parametreleri (L*,a*
ve b*) spektrofotometre cihazı kullanılarak tespit edildi ve cihaz restorasyon
moduna getirilerek A2 rengine göre örneklerin renk değişimleri değerleri tespit
edildi. Ayrıca örneklerin hue ve chroma değerleri de elde edilen a* ve b*
değerleri kullanılarak hesaplandı. Elde edilen veriler iki yönlü varyans
analizi (Two-way ANOVA) ve Tukey çoklu karşılaştırma testi ile p˂0,05
anlamlılık düzeyinde değerlendirildi.

Bulgular:
İstatistiksel analiz sonuçlarına göre L* değeri için materyal faktörünün etkili
olmadığı, kalınlık faktörü ve kalınlıkXmateryal faktör etkileşiminin anlamlı
olduğu görüldü (p˂0,05).  a*, b*, hue,
chroma ve ΔE değerleri için materyal faktörü, kalınlık faktörü ve kalınlıkXmateryal
faktör etkileşiminin anlamlı olduğu görüldü (p˂0,05). Gruplar içerisinde sadece
Grup E 1.5 mm kalınlığındaki örneklerden elde edilen ortalama ΔE değerinin
klinik olarak kabul edilebilir sınırların altında olduğu tespit edildi.







Sonuç:
Materyal tipi ve kalınlığı rezin matriks seramiklerin renk karakteri üzerinde
anlamlı bir etkiye sahiptir. Grupların renk parametre değişimleri için kritik
kalınlık değeri 1mm dir.
