Öz

Objectives: The aim of this study was toevaluate the quality of different root canal fillingtechniques that lateral compaction (LC) andthermoplasticized injectable (TPE) gutta percha incurved root canals which were prepared Revo-S orself-adjusting file (SAF) using digital radiographs.Materials and Methods: Fourty extractedmandibular molar of mesial canals of teeth whichhave curved root canals were prepared using SAFor Revo-S instruments. After determination of rootcanal curvatures in two directions, the canals weredivided two subgroups (n=20, p>0.05). Bothmesiobuccal and mesiolingual canals were shapedand filled with AH Plus and either LC technique orTPE gutta percha obturation technique. Thespecimens were stored for 1 week at 37C and100% humidity to allow the complete setting of thesealer. Postoperative digital radiographs were takento evaluate the quality of root canal fillings. Datawere analysed using Mann-Whitney U tests.Result: In terms of the preparation techniques,no significant differences were found between theroot canal filling techniques (p=0.051, p=0.127).Conclusion: Under the conditions of the presentstudy, neither preparation nor obturation techniquesdid not affect the quality of root canal filling incurved root canals.

Eğimli Kök Kanallarında Kullanılan Farklı Preparasyon ve Kök Kanalı Dolgu Tekniklerinin Kalitesi

Öz

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı Revo-S (Micro-Mega, Besançon, Fransa) ve self-adjusting file (SAF; ReDent-Nova, Ra'anana, Israil)   ile preparasyonu yapılan eğimli kök kanallarının lateral kondensasyon ve termoplastik enjekte edilebilen (TPE) guta perka gibi farklı kök kanal dolum tekniklerinin kalitesini dijital radyografi kullanarak değerlendirmektir.

Gereç ve Yöntem: Kırk adet eğimli kök kanallarına sahip mandibular molar diş SAF veya Revo-S eğesi ile prepare edildi. Kök kanal kurvatürü değerlendirildikten sonra kanallar iki alt gruba bölündü (n=20, p >0.05). Hem mesiobukkal hem de mesiolingual kanallar genişletildi. AH Plus ile lateral kondensasyon veya yüksek ısılı TPE guta perka dolum teknikleriyle dolduruldu. Örnekler bir hafta boyunca patın sertleşmesi için 370C ve % 100 nemli ortamda bekletildi. Kanal dolumlarını değerlendirmek için çalışma sonrası dijital radyografiler alındı. Veriler Mann-Whitney testi ile analiz edildi.

Bulgular: Preparasyon teknikleri açısından kök kanal dolum teknikleri arasında önemli bir fark bulunmadı ( p=0.051, p= 0.127).

Sonuç: Bu çalışma koşuları altında kurvatürlü kanallarda, ne preparasyon tekniği ne de dolum tekniği kök kanalı dolum kalitesini etkilememektedir.

Cumhuriyet Dental Journal (Cumhuriyet Dent J, CDJ) is the official publication of Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Dentistry. CDJ is an international journal dedicated to the latest advancement of dentistry. The aim of this journal is to provide a platform for scientists and academicians all over the world to promote, share, and discuss various new issues and developments in different areas of dentistry. First issue of the Journal of Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Dentistry was published in 1998. In 2010, journal's name was changed as Cumhuriyet Dental Journal. Journal’s publication language is English.


CDJ accepts articles in English. Submitting a paper to CDJ is free of charges. In addition, CDJ has not have article processing charges.
