Intraosseous Transmigration of Mandibular Canines, Classification and Evaluation of Associated Pathologies

Öz

Objective: The current study aims to determine the incidence of transmigrated mandibular canines, to examine the treatment modalities and the presence of associated pathologies with a population applying to an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic.
Materials and Methods: The study was conducted in a retrospective manner with a cohort of 514 patients referred to our clinic between June 2013 and January 2020 to treat impacted mandibular canines. Transmigrated mandibular canines were classified according to the determined classification system and other related parameters were evaluated.
Results: As a result of the analyzes made according to age, there was a statistically significant difference between orthodontic treatment, transmigration class and age (p= 0.033, 0.036). There was no significant relation between classified transmigrated canines (Type 1, 2, and 5) and gender distribution in the cross-tables analyzes (p=0.165). A statistically significant difference was observed between the transmigration Type 1, 2, 5 and the located quadrant in the cross-tables analyzes (p=0.031).
Conclusion: The most common treatment option for transmigrated mandibular canines was surgical removal of the related teeth. Age, cooperation, presence of cystic pathologies and type of transmigration were among the criteria determining treatment options.

Mandibular Kaninlerin İntraosseöz Transmigrasyonu, Sınıflandırılması ve İlişkili Patolojilerin Değerlendirilmesi

Öz

Amaç: Bu çalışma, bir Ağız Diş ve Çene Cerrahisi Kliniğine başvuran belirli bir popülasyon arasında transmigre mandibular kaninlerin insidansını belirlemeyi, tedavi protokollerini incelemeyi ve ilişkili olabilecek patolojilerin mevcudiyetini değerlendirmeyi amaçlamaktadır.
Gereç ve Yöntem: Gerçekleştirilen retrospektif kohort çalışmasında, Haziran 2013 - Ocak 2020 yılları arasında gömülü kanin dişlerin tedavisi amacı ile Ağız, Diş ve Çene Cerrahisi Kliniğine yönlendirilen 514 hasta değerlendirildi. Belirlenen sınıflama sistemine göre transmigre mandibular kaninlerin sınıflandırılması gerçekleştirildi ve ilişkili diğer parametreler değerlendirildi.
Bulgular: Yaşa göre yapılan analizler sonucunda, ortodontik tedavi görüp görmeme ve transmigrasyon sınıfı ile yaş arasında istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı ilişki görüldü (p= 0.033, 0.036). Transmigrasyon sınıflamasına göre Tip 1, Tip 2 ve Tip 5 sınıfında yer alan gömülü kanin dişler ile cinsiyet açısından oluşturulan çapraz tablolara göre istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı bir ilişki görülmedi (p=0.165). Transmigre gömülü kanin dişler ile yer aldıkları bölge açısından oluşturulan çapraz tablolara göre istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı bir ilişki görüldü (p=0.031).
Sonuç: Transmigre mandibular kaninler için en yaygın tedavi seçeneği, ilgili dişin cerrahi olarak çıkarılmasıydı. Yaş, kooperasyon, kistik patolojilerin varlığı ve transmigrasyon tipi tedavi seçeneklerini belirleyen kriterler arasındaydı.
