Year 2018, Volume: 5 Issue: 2, 123 - 127, 01.08.2018

Abstract

Background: The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of
transmigrant canines among impacted canines and to evaluate transmigrant
canines.

Methods: This study
presents 121 patients
(36
males and 85 females) who referred to Ankara University Oral and Maxillofacial
Surgery Department for impacted canine diagnosis and treatment in 2012 were
retrospectively analyzed and transmigrant canines among impacted canines
were
evaluated with the help of age, gender, position, localization, treatment
protocols and classification statistically and an incidence rate were defined.

Results: 4 patients were excluded becouse of data absence. Among 146 impacted canines 13
transmigrated canines in 13 patients (3 male 10 female) were found as
unilaterally in mandible (2 male 8 female) and maxilla(1 male 2 female). The
mean age was 32.38. Among mandibular transmigrants Class 1(%50) found as the
most common position class. 8 tooth was extracted while 5 was followed up. Among
impacted canines transmigration incidence were found as %8.90. Rate was found
%2.52 and %37.03 in maxilla and mandible.

Conclusions: The incidence of
transmigration was significantly higher in the mandible than maxilla (p
<0.05).
Dentists must be aware of transmigration
situations which can not be detected by only clinical examination and
radiograpic examination doesn’t must be neglected.

Gömülü kaninlerin transmigrasyon insidansının belirlenmesi

Year 2018, Volume: 5 Issue: 2, 123 - 127, 01.08.2018
https://doi.org/10.15311/selcukdentj.319823

Abstract

etmemeleri gerekmektedir.
