Peripheral giant cell granuloma lesion and the treatment: case report
ABSTRACT
Peripheral giant cell granuloma (PGCG) is a reactive exophytic lesion occurring on the gingiva and alveolar ridge usually as a result of local irritating factors. PGCG is mostly located on the mandibular anterior region and it is frequently seen in 4-6 decades. PGCG is generally smaller than 2 cm, may cause mobility on related teeth and its clinical appearance looks like a liver. Surgical exicion is the main treatment choice and recurrence occurs rarely. In this report a 18-year-old female patient's lesion, located on maxillary premolar-molar region and histopathologically diagnosed as PGCG is presented with its treatment and 20 months follow up period. The case is unusual compared to the literature regarding its location and size. The aim of this case report is to show that, exophytic lesions which are seen in the oral and maxillofacial region may reach enormous dimensions if they are neglected by the patients or local irritating factors are not eliminated.

Abstract
Periferal dev hücreli granüloma ve tedavisi: olgu sunumu
ÖZET
Periferal dev hücreli granüloma (PDHG) lokal irritan faktörler sebebiyle gingiva ve alveoler kret üzerinde ortaya çıkan reaktif ekzofitik bir lezyondur. Genellikle mandibulada anterior bölgelerde lokalizedir ve sıklıkla 4.-6. dekatlarda görülür. İlişkili olduğu dişlerde mobiliteye neden olabilir. Klinik görünümü karaciğer dokusuna benzeyen genellikle 2 cm'den küçük lezyondur. Tedavisi cerrahi eksizyondur. Seyrek olarak nüks görülmektedir. Bu raporda 18 yaşındaki kadın hastadaki maksiller premolar-molar bölge konumlu, histopatolojik olarak PDHG tanısı konulmuş lezyonun tedavisi ve 20 aylık takibi sunulmuştur. Vaka lokalizasyon ve boyut yönüyle literatürdeki vakalardan farklılık arz etmektedir. Oral ve maksillofasiyal bölgede görülebilen ekzofitik lezyonların hastalar tarafından ihmal edildiğinde çok büyük boyutlara ulaşabildiğini, lokal irritan faktörlerin ortadan kaldırılmasıyla durumun tekrarlamayabileceğini klinik olarak göstermek amacıyla bu olgu sunulmuştur.
