Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi Öğrencilerinin Periodontal Farkındalığı, Ağız Sağlığına Yönelik Tutum ve Davranışlarının Değerlendirilmesi

Year 2020, Volume: 2 Issue: 1, 14 - 24, 28.08.2020

Abstract

Amaç: Diş hekimligǍi oDžgǍrencilerinin kendi agǍız sagǍlıgǍına yoDžnelik tutumları agǍız sagǍlıgǍı alışkanlıklarını etkilemek ile birlikte
tedavi ettikleri hastalarının agǍız sagǍlıgǍının iyileştirilmesi uDžzerinde de olası etkiye sahiptir. Bu çalışmanın amacı diş hekimligǍi
fakuDžltesi oDžgǍrencilerinin periodontal farkındalıklarını, kendi agǍız sagǍlıgǍına yoDžnelik tutum ve alışkanlıklarını degǍerlendirmektir.
Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışmaya 336 birey (140 preklinik oDžgǍrencisi-196 klinik stajyer oDžgǍrenci) dahil edildi. Bireylerin sosyodemografik verileri, sistemik hastalık geçmişi, sigara içme durumları, periodontal sagǍlık/hastalık durumları online anket formu
kullanılarak sorgulandı. AgǍız sagǍlıgǍına yoDžnelik tutumları ve agǍız sagǍlıgǍı alışkanlıklarını degǍerlendirmek için Hiroşima Udžniversitesi Diş Davranış Envanteri (HU-DBI) kullanıldı. Elde edilen veriler p<0,05 anlamlılık duDžzeylerine goDžre istatistiksel olarak
analiz edildi.
Bulgular: Gruplar arasında cinsiyet, ailenin ikamet ettigǍi yer, ailenin gelir duDžzeyi ve oDžgǍrencilerin annelerinin egǍitim seviyesi
açısından anlamlı bir farklılık goDžruDžlmezken (p>0,05), yaş, oDžgǍrencilerin yaşadıkları yer ve oDžgǍrencilerin babalarının egǍitim seviyeleri açısından anlamlı farklılık oldugǍu goDžruDžlduDž(p<0,05). OdžgǍrencilerin periodontal farkındalıkları degǍerlendirildigǍinde; klinik oDžgǍrencilerin periodontal farkındalıklarının istatistiksel olarak daha yuDžksek oldugǍu goDžzlendi. Iǚlaveten, HU-DBI skorları
klinik oDžgǍrencilerde (7,10±1,32) preklinik oDžgǍrencilerle (5,49±2,01) kıyasla daha yuDžksekti (p<0,05).
Sonuç: Çalışmamızın bulguları dogǍrultusunda, diş hekimligǍi oDžgǍrencilerinde egǍitim seviyesinin artmasıyla, oDžgǍrencilerin diş fırçalama alışkanlıkları, oral hijyen davranışları, periodontal hastalık bilgileri ve bu konudaki tutum ve davranışlarının arttıgǍı
goDžzlemlenmiştir.

Evaluation of Periodontal Awareness, Oral Health Attitudes and Behaviour of of Dentistry Faculty Students

Year 2020, Volume: 2 Issue: 1, 14 - 24, 28.08.2020

Abstract

Background: The attitudes of dentistry students towards their own oral health affect their oral health habits and also have a possible effect on improving the oral health of the patients that they treat. The aim of this study was to evaluate periodontal awareness, attitudes and habits of dental faculty students towards their own oral health.
Methods: 336 individuals (140 preclinical-196 clinical students) were included in the study. Sociodemographic data, systemic disease history, smoking status, periodontal health/disease status of individuals were questioned using the online questionnaire.HU-DBI was used to evaluate attitudes towards oral health and oral health habits. The data obtained were statistically analyzed according to p<0.05 significance levels.
Results: While there was no significant difference between the groups in terms of gender, place of residence of the family, income level of the family and the education level of the mothers of the students(p>0.05), there was a significant difference in terms of age, location of the students and the education levels of the fathers of the students(p<0,05).When periodontal awareness of students is evaluated; It was observed that clinical students' periodontal awareness was statistically higher. In addition, HU-DBI scores were higher in clinical students (7.10 ± 1.32) compared to preclinical students (5.49 ± 2.01)(p<0.05).
Conclusion : In line with the findings of our study, it can be said that with the increase in the level of education in dentistry students, tooth brushing habits, oral hygiene behaviors, periodontal disease knowledge and attitudes and behaviors in this regard have increased.
