Matriks metalloproteinazlar: diş dokuları ve çürük üzerine etkileri

Year 2011, Volume: 14 Issue: 3, 246 - 257, 23.09.2011

Abstract

ABSTRACT

Since relationship between oral diseases and microorganisms have been revealed treatment options were focused to terminate those microorganisms. However; today's researches show that host response and host related factors have influence on diseases and their progress. Matrix metalloproteinases (MMP) are one of those host related factors. MMP's act as a degradative extracelular matrix protein during organogenesis, growth and tissue transformation processes. This review is about; systemic effects of MMP's and their roles in disease progression and treatment options.

Key words: Matrix metalloproteinases, caries, kollagen, tissue inhibitors of matrix metalloproteinases.
