REDUCING THE PAIN ASSOCIATED WITH INTRAMUSCULAR INJECTION

Year 2012, Volume: 28 Issue: 3, 117 - 128, 01.11.2012

Abstract

Injections are among the most frequently used medical procedures. The administration of intramuscular injections is a responsibility of the professional nurse. Giving an injection safely requires knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, psychology, and communication skills and practical expertise. Intramuscular injections cause pain and associated anxiety for patients. Injections-related pain can lead to life-long phobia, and may discourage a patient from accessing needed care. Good injection technique, appropriate patient information and a calm and confident nurse will help to reduce anxiety. There are different techniques for reducing the pain associated with intramuscular injection. Interventions for reducing pain due to injection would be inexpensive, noninvasive, and rapidly applied. Nurses should applied pain reducing techniques for the administration of intramuscular injections. In this article has been explained the basic principle and techniques for reducing the pain due to intramuscular injection

KAS İÇİ ENJEKSİYONA BAĞLI AĞRIYI AZALTMA

Year 2012, Volume: 28 Issue: 3, 117 - 128, 01.11.2012
