Ozone Treatment in Dentoalveolar Surgery

Abstract

Ozone is a natural, colorless, pungent, natural gas that is composed of three oxygen atoms and used for a long time as alternative or adjuvant treatment. Ozone, which increases the chronic oxidative stress at the cell level, has antimicrobial, immune system regulator, biosynthesis and metabolic rate enhancer properties. Ozone has been using in many departments of dentistry such as pedodontics, periodontology, oral and maxillofacial surgery and endodontics as an adjuvant treatment. The purpose of this review is investigating the contribution of ozone gas for treatment efficacy in eliminating complications seen after dentoalveolar surgery. Also this review includes various studies in which ozone gas is applied in the treatment of diseases such as lichen planus, chronic periodontitis, osteonecrosis and temporomandibular joint TME disorders.

Dentoalveolar Cerrahide Ozon Tedavisi

Abstract

Ozon üç oksijen atomundan oluşan, alternatif veya tamamlayıcı tedavide uzun zamandır kullanılmakta olan, renksiz, keskin kokulu doğal bir gazdır. Hücre düzeyinde kronik oksidatif stresi arttırarak etki gösteren ozon, antimikrobiyal, bağışıklık sistemini düzenleyici, metabolizma hızını ve biyosentezi arttırıcı etkilere de sahiptir. Diş hekimliğinde ozon; pedodonti, periodontoloji, ağız, diş ve çene cerrahisi ve endodonti gibi çeşitli alanlarda destekleyici tedavi yöntemi olarak uygulanmaktadır. Bu derlemenin amacı, dentoalveolar cerrahi sonrası görülebilen komplikasyonların giderilmesinde ozon gazının tedavi etkinliğine katkısını araştırmaktır. Ayrıca mevcut derlemede, liken planus, kronik periodontitis, osteonekroz ve temporomandibular eklem TME bozuklukları gibi hastalıkların tedavisinde ozon gazının uygulandığı çeşitli çalışmalara da yer verilmiştir.
